Nintendo Dev Team Is Hard at Work on The Legend of Zelda Wii U

In a recent interview with iDigitalTimes(iDT), Nintendo of America vice president of sales and marketing, Mr. Scott Moffitt, shared some reassuring information about the upcoming Wii U title, The Legend of Zelda Wii U (an obvious working title).

iDT asked Mr. Moffitt about the Zelda game for Wii U at this year’s E3. Mr. Moffitt addressed the current Wii U game in development and also seemed to answer a lingering question/sentiment that the game was not only delayed to optimize it, but also what some people believe to be a sure sign that the game will be skipping WIi U altogether.

“We confirmed that a Zelda game, a new Zelda experience is in development for the Wii U and we have our team hard at work on that,” Moffitt said. “We want that to be the best Zelda experience. Fans have been waiting for and deserve a game when it’s ready, when it’s fully featured and when it can live up to what we would like to deliver.”

It is plain to see that NIntendo’s focus for The Legend of Zelda is to indeed have that experience on the Wii U, as NoA President and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime has said also. Now, does that ultimately mean that there won’t be an iteration of that same experience on the NX platform? I don’t think so.Zelda Wii U In fact, I am of the camp that believes they will dual-release the game in similar fashion to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I do believe that the Wii U version will come out, and then a version for NX will be released at a later date. A further hypothesis is that the NX Zelda will be an enhanced version, whether that’s graphically, game play-wise, and/or depth. The thing is, I believe the purchase of the NX version will take into account whether you have purchased the Wii U version or not.

Are you anticipating a Wii U release of The Legend of Zelda? Do you think it will skip Wii U for an NX-only release? What are you looking forward to most in the next Zelda game, whenever it’s ready?

As always, gaming is meant to be fun, so keep gaming!!
